I had to do a report in my Macroeconomics class and I did mine about the price of oil. I found out that the Saudi's are raising their price of oil (recently at least) because they are worried that the US is becoming more efficient, and it we're more efficient we won't have a need for their oil (at least not as large of a need). It makes me wonder what our future is if we don't find a different source of transportation rather than being so dependant upon oil (assuming that we keep becoming more efficient and the oil prices keep rising). Even if we're able to purchase a car that gets 50-60 miles per gallon, that only really applies to the people that can afford a car that can do that. If the price of gas keeps rising and we don't change the need for gas, it's going to be lower income families that suffer, thus increasing the gap between the lower income and higher income.
Which also brings me to the topic of politics. Do we really care about what the candidates will do anymore? Do we really, as a whole, care about the policies they would like to implement? It doesn't seem like it. Most of the people I know say that they don't want Obama to be President because he's Muslim... which isn't true. When I heard that the first time I looked up Obama's history to see if it was true or not. It just makes you wonder if a President would be elected based on what someone reads in an e-mail forward or if people actually take the time to see what the issues are, and what the candidates stances are.
